The Internet Movie
Database is THE place to go when you want to know about movies, movie stars, and
movie news. Bar none, it is the pinnacle of movie trivia. It could use a few
extra nuggets, though.
The 6th
Day
The name and fate of
Johnny Phoenix echo that of the mythical Phoenix bird. After a long life, the
Phoenix would set fire to its nest, and die amidst the flames. Soon after, a
newborn Phoenix would rise from the ashes, to continue the Phoenix's legacy.
The movie has several symbolic character names like this, and once upon a time
they were all mentioned in the IMDb's trivia section for this movie. For
whatever reason, the IMDb staff has since stripped those tidbits out. Go
figure.
I am probably the only person who finds this next bit of trivia interesting,
but I do. Towards the end of the movie, a street sign labelled "Howe St." can
be seen. Trevor Rabin, the movie's music composer, used to be a guitarist for
rock band Yes. He replaced, and then was later replaced by, guitarist Steve
Howe.
Major
League II
SPOILER: In the
movie, the Cleveland Indians and the Chicago White Sox face off in the American
League Championship Series, which is a best-of-seven series. The Indians win the
first three games, the White Sox win the next three, and the Indians win the
final. At the time of the movie's release, no real team had ever won three games
in a row after losing the first three games of a best-of-seven championship
series. That changed in 2004 when, after losing the first three games of the
ALCS to the New York Yankees, the Boston Red Sox went on to win the next three.
Fortunately for the Red Sox, they did not then lose the seventh game, and the
2004 Red Sox became the first team of any major American sports league in
history to win a best-of-seven championship series after losing the first three
games.
Mr.
Mom
Michael Keaton would
later portray Batman in the movies Batman and Batman Returns.
Teri Garr would later portray Batman's mother in the animated series "Batman
Beyond." Also, according to rumors, another of the Mr. Mom cast, Christopher Lloyd, was at one time being considered to portray a Batman villain, the
Scarecrow, in an upcoming live-action Batman movie.
Who
Framed Roger Rabbit
The ingredients of
DIP -- turpentine, acetone, and benzine -- are all commonly used as paint
thinners and solvents. A combination of those ingredients would certainly
spell certain death for the "ink and paint" residents of Toon Town.
