Artwork, Mine and Others

My Artwork
These are just a few of the sketches and pictures I have done. I will have some others posted here in the future. Stay tuned.

The images below are thumbnails. To view the full-size image , click on either the thumbnail or the image name.

The Burger Bowl   600x304  35K

One day I was sitting on a hillside on the Georgia Tech campus. I looked around and thought, "Hmm, I wonder if I could draw this." This was the result.

The Lake   710x317  81K

My mother loves fishing, but it's never done much for me. So, sometimes when she talked me into going with her for company, I'd bring along a sketchbook and draw while she'd fish. This is a drawing of the lake and surrounding area of one of our trips.

Rita the Pixie   363x341  26K

It's Rita the Pixie! Rita used to hang out on some of the same role-playing chat groups (technically called MUCKs; see my Links Page for more details) that I did. I drew this when I was drawing all my friends from the MUCKs. I couldn't post her picture on Yerf, because she's really not a furry. So, I'm showing her off in my own little gallery.

Sunrise   710x317  81K

Another fishing trip sketch, but not one based on actual observation.

Toledo #1   300x319  16K

The first ever sketch of my character Toledo (read all about him and my other fictional counterparts on my Characters Page), some time in the early fall of 1995. I'd only been drawing on a regular basis for a few months (and I wasn't doing all that much even then), and this drawing proves it.

Toledo in Color   339x357  7K

My first computer-colored picture, back when I got my first real computer, in the late fall of 1995. There wasn't much to the image editor I was using, and so there isn't much to this picture. But hey, it's in color! C'mon, that was enough to impress people back in the 1950s.

Tolouse #1   364x617  34K

And now for a really first first. From the late spring of 1995, this is the drawing that started this as a real hobby. I had always been one to doodle, but usually it was just random patterns of lines that went where I should have been taking class notes. When I joined a chat group in February of 1995, I quickly learned that everybody there was an artist, and most of them were pretty darn good at it, too. So, I gave into peer pressure, took out my pencil, and discovered that I had a natural talent that I had been neglecting all this time, and it had nothing to do with drawing. Oh well, I still keep at it, and I think I'm getting better, little by little. I've certainly improved since this sketch, anyway.

My Characters, Others' Artwork
Yeah, okay, even though I'm usually not one to pester other artists to draw my characters, I still like it when they do. It's a two way street, of course; artists get more exposure with collections like these. So, here's my end of the bargain: a collection of my characters as seen through the eyes, pencils, and graphics programs of others. Toledo as a Bunny #1   Scotty "Sully" Arsenault   464x641  86K

One of the other characters (and what a character he is) on my favorite MUCK, a devilbunny named Robbie, had been pestering me, saying Toledo should be a bunny, not a skunk. He even convinced a couple of artists to draw Toledo this way. Scotty Arsenault was one such victim...

thumbnail
Toledo as a Bunny #2   D. C. Simpson   581x516  48K

...and D. C. Simpson was another, even giving one of his own characters, Ozymandias, a similar fate.

thumbnail
Hmmmm...   Dan "Miles" Ramos   640x480  131K

"Tolouse is about to give Miles a good sized headache only toons could know in a shameless plug for FurTooniaMUCK."  -DR

I forget what happened immediately afterwards. Tolouse disappeared from FurToonia shortly after this pic was posted, so retaliation must have been brutal.

Toledo, Minister of Silly Walks #1   Matthew "Skippy" Miller   800x758  22K

Ozymandias and Millie had crowned themselves Emperer and Empress of the Universe, and were looking for furs to recruit as their ministers. Talon the wolf was the first recruit, becoming Talon, High General. Skippy, as this picture depicts, then suggested an appointment for Toledo.

Funny thing is, Toledo had never met Ozymandias or Millie before. Talk about an introduction.

Toledo, Minister of Silly Walks #2   D. C. Simpson   600x1045  57K

As the saga continues, Toledo proves his worthiness and is indeed appointed Minister of Silly Walks. To this day, he gushes with pride about it. Really.

The Piano   Matthew "Skippy" Miller   625x287  7K

I posted a picture of Toledo as he would look at about 1 or 2, saying that his sister Natasha was starting to show off her brother's baby pictures. This pic continued the thread, with a nod to a particular comic strip legend.

"Toledo the skunk, at the age of nine, showing his love for music. Apologies to Charles Schulz and his fans."  -MM

Robbie, the Evil Cute Bunny   Shawn "Mason" Leedy   480x465  77K

"Robbie the evilcutebunny torments, er... greets a couple of his friends."  -SL

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

thumbnail
Toledo   Tom "Jiffy" Ziolkowski   340x400  44K

Toledo, hinting at his (not to mention my) love for music, and of course, for drawing.

Toledo #1   Shawn "Mason" Leedy   375x305  23K

"Toledo the skunk gets an unexpected visitor."  -SL

Normally Toledo doesn't pick up hitchhikers, but...

thumbnail
Toledo #2   Shawn "Mason" Leedy   640x480  35K

"Toledo skunk, done in a different style."  -SL

Cute, ain't he?

thumbnail
Toledo #3   Shawn "Mason" Leedy   420x500  40K

"When you're born with stripes, I guess the novelty wears off quickly. So maybe next year, Toledo's friends will know better than to organize a skunk-themed birthday party. Or so he hopes."  -SL

thumbnail
Do–a Ana   Shawn "Mason" Leedy   424x424  16K

This is based on a picture that I had originally created and posted to Yerf (you can see it here). Shawn liked it enough to one-up me on the coloring job. Oh no, I'm not bitter... rather appreciative, actually.

And just in case you didn't get the hint already, go visit Yerf!! You won't be disappointed. See, they even have a cool button.

Yerf! Now!
