Asteroids Geneology

1979 - Asteroids - Blast your way through an asteroid field to stay alive!

1981 - Asteroids Deluxe - Homing "killer satellites" tell players they better not get too comfortable staying in the middle of the screen.

1982 - Space Duel - Have the pilots of all those ships trapped in the asteroid field been taking drugs? That might explain all the stars, diamonds, pinwheels, and other odd shapes now threatening to destroy them.

1987 - Blasteroids - Digitized pictures add extra realism to the big rocks floating through space. New enemies, power-ups, and a quest also add to the festivities.

1998 - Asteroids - Activision first hopped on the 3D remake gravy train with this update to Atari's original. PC and PlayStation owners got to ride along.

1999 - Asteroids Hyper 64 - Another 3D-ified update, this one for the Nintendo 64, though here the changes aren't so dramatic. Four-player competitions help make this one stand out.
