Atari 2600 - Beginning
Pitfall Harry returns, this time exploring vast underground caves in search of
his niece, Rhonda.
Pitfall II boasts graphics and sound previously unseen and even thought
impossible on the Atari 2600. This is thanks to an extra piece of hardware
inside each cartridge, Activision's Display Processor Chip. Using cartridge
hardware to extend the capabilities of a video game console soon became
commonplace. Nintendo even made it a documented feature of the Famicom and
Nintendo Entertainment System.
