This version of Donkey Kong has a lot going for it, once you get past the strange lay-out of the first and final screens. Graphics and sound are solid, and gameplay proceeds at a good clip. The weakest part of the game is the relative lack of cinematics between levels, making Mario's quest seem a bit unfulfilling. Other than that, this is one of the better home releases, with all four screens available to play.
(Donkey Kong was never officially released nor even in development for the Atari 5200. However, thanks to the similar hardware of the Atari 8-bit home computers and the Atari 5200, the Atari computer version of Donkey Kong has been made to work with the Atari 5200.)
