With Nintendo freshly into the home video game market, this port marked the first time Donkey Kong was ported by the original company. Appropriately enough, the system receiving the port was also created by Nintendo.
And they still couldn't get it right!
The game plays well enough, but hammers are in the wrong place, the screens are presented out of order, and the "cement factory" screen is completely missing. The moral seems to be, if you want something done right, license it out!
