Krull was the third movie game released by Atari for their 2600, following Raiders of the Lost Ark and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Compared to Steven Spielberg's blockbuster movies, Krull was a much smaller affair, which may be why the game escaped the scrutiny (and the sales) of the two earlier adaptations. Taken on its own, Krull is an interesting little game, clearly trying to tell a story across its multiple scenes of pretty decent Atari 2600 graphics. Like Raiders and E.T. before it, a read through the instruction is essential to figuring out how to play, and to really appreciate the story being told. Krull doesn't have the complex puzzle solving of Raiders however, nor the frustrating bugs of E.T., so once you know what you're doing, you can hop to it without distraction. That makes Krull worthy of the time invested, even if it isn't the most memorable game in the 2600's catalog. Being tied to a more commercially successful movie probably would have helped with that, but either way, Krull the game is good enough.
