The 8-bit Nintendo isn't quite able to reproduce the original graphics in all of their colorful, shadowy splendor, but it can capture just about everything else that made Marble Madness great in the arcades. And what the NES can do, it does. Game play is captured very well; the only thing missing is support for trackball controllers. The music had to be somewhat stripped down just like the graphics, but what's left is still very good, and preserves the game's atmosphere. Really, nothing is missing here that you wouldn't expect, and so Marble Madness is one of the best arcade translations available for this system.
