Apple II Stargate Review

Kudos to the developers for including every single enemy from the arcade game, including the Fireball, Space Hum, and all three of Phred, Big Red and Munchie. Kudos also for little extra touches like the arcade game's volcano, explosions affected by gravity, and something more than a simple "Game Over" when the last Defender is lost. Sound unsurprisingly isn't much, but game play is good and consistent, and just as hard as in the arcade game. Make sure you have a joystick, because keyboard control is incredibly difficult work with. Actually using the typical Apple II analog joystick can be a hassle with games like Defender and Stargate as well, but if you know what you're doing, you should find plenty of entertainment here.

Grade: B.
