The universe has a new enemy, and his name is Gravitar! Gravity is his weapon, and complete universal domination is his goal. So far he has conquered four galaxies, each with three solar systems now teaming with his alien fleets. You are in charge of defeating Gravitar's minions and putting an end to his plans. To do that, you will have to battle gravity itself!
The game begins in a solar system of five planets and a sun. To clean up the solar system, you must either destroy the enemy Bunkers Gravitor has installed on the four smaller planets, or take out the alien reactor located in the core of the largest planet. Be careful you do not succumb to the gravity of the sun while navigating from planet to planet! Also be wary of Gravitar's saucer ships patrolling the solar system. If you get too close to a saucer, you and the saucer will face off in a deep-space duel to the death!
To rid a planet of Bunkers, simply fly toward the planet. When you are close enough, the scene will change to the planet's landscape, where the enemy Bunkers await your attack. Shoot them before they shoot you! Once you have destroyed all Bunkers, fly up and away again to return to the solar system. Each planet has its own gravity, so don't let your ship get pulled out of control while battling the Bunkers. Also watch out for Gravitar's Rammers, alien vessels that will try to crash into your ship above the planet's surface. You can shoot or dodge them, but either way, don't let them touch you!
If you decide to attack the largest planet, instead of destroying Bunkers, you will have to make your way to the planet's core, shoot the reactor, and then pilot your way out again. The planet's gravity will not make this easy, but you also have only a small handful seconds to succeed before the reactor cooks you to a crisp!
You are in constant danger of enemy fire, from the saucers out in space and from the planetary Bunkers. Fortunately your ship is equipped with shields, which make you invulnerable to enemy fire while activated. Shields do not protect you from crashing into planets or the sun, so keep your distance!
Fighting the good fight requires fuel, and lots of it. Using your ship's thrusters and shields deplete your reserves. Fortunately Gravitar also needs fuel, and he has fuel depots all throughout his conquered solar systems. When you see a fuel depot on a planet's surface, simply fly over it and activate your ship's tractor beam. Remember, the tractor beam also requires fuel, so activate it only when you have to! Some fuel depots are hidden behind Bunkers, so you may have to shoot them first. Also remember, a planet is destroyed once you clear out all Bunkers and fly back into space, so be sure you've collected all the fuel you want before leaving.
Once you have destroyed all planets in a solar system, or blown up the reactor, you will be transported to the next solar system to start another clean-up. After three solar systems, you will move on to the next galaxy. The four conquered galaxies are similar to one another, but each has its own peculiar laws of physics. In the first galaxy, gravity and light behave normally. In the second galaxy, you can still see where you're going, but now gravity is reversed. In the third galaxy, gravity behaves the same way as in the first galaxy, but now planets go dark when you approach them, and can be lit only by shooting or crashing into the surface. The fourth galaxy is the most difficult of them all, with darkened planetary surfaces and reversed gravity! Good luck!
