Zaxxon Geneology

1982 - Zaxxon - Fly through asteroid fortresses and across infested space, facing the enemy before they have a chance to invade anyone.

1982 - Super Zaxxon - Zaxxon's success prompted this quicky sequel. Players are challenged to fly even faster and through tighter spaces, before facing a new boss, the mighty Dragon.

1987 - Zaxxon 3-D - This Sega Master System game makes use of the console's 3D glasses. To achieve the best 3D effects, the viewpoint has been moved closer to first-person, with the camera directly behind the player's ship. Ironically this makes Zaxxon 3-D look more like the Zaxxon ports released for less powerful consoles like the Intellivision and the Atari 2600.

1995 - Zaxxon's Motherbase 2000 - Zaxxon gets a little closer to true 3D in this Sega Genesis 32X release. The ships and enemies are created with 3D shapes, but the backgrounds use the same "isometric projection" trick as the original.
