Frogger Geneology
1981 - Frogger - Navigate busy streets and dangerous rivers in a quest to get
Frogger to his lily pad home.
1984 - Frogger II: ThreeeDeep! - Parker Brothers' non-arcade sequel expands the action to three
different screens representing water, land and air.
1997 - Frogger - Not only did this three-dimensionalized Frogger help
popularize the idea of remaking old video games, it also established Hasbro as
a new name in the industry, and set Frogger on his way to a lucrative
franchise. Hasbro has since retired from video games, but remakes and Frogger
himself have soldiered on.
2000 - Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge - Bearing no relation to the previous Frogger II, this
Frogger 2 features different playable characters and an in-game story,
together with the familiar goal of helping frogs find their way
home.
2001 - Frogger: The Great Quest - Frogger gets a two-legged, fully-clothed make-over in this
adventure game for PC's and the PlayStation 2. The goal has also changed,
with Frogger searching for a princess instead of his lily pad.
2001 - Frogger's Adventures: Temple of the Frog - The same two-legged incarnation of Frogger from The Great
Quest also appeared in this Game Boy Advance platformer.
2002 - Frogger Advance: The Great Quest - Just like in that other Great Quest, Frogger is searching
for a princess, only now he's doing it in a platforming game, his second for
the Game Boy Advance in as many years.
2002 - Frogger Beyond - Did you know Frogger was only a mere boy frog all this time?
Despite looking nothing like a tadpole, apparently Frogger had yet to make his
way into adolescence. In this platformer for the XBox, PlayStation 2, Game
Cube and PC, Frogger must prove he has what it takes to be earn the title of
"teenager."
2002 - Frogger's Adventures 2: The Lost Want - Yet another Frogger platformer for the Game Boy Advance, picking
up right where Temple of the Frog left off.
2003 - Frogger's Journey: The Forgotten Relic - And still another Game Boy Advance platformer.
2003 - Frogger's Adventures: The Rescue - This PC, PlayStation 2 and Game Cube release finds Frogger
joining a search and rescue team after one of the team crashes near Frogger's
home. Isn't it awesome when your dream job just falls out of the sky right in
front of you?
2005 - Frogger: Ancient Shadow - This game is a direct sequel to The Rescue, which maybe
confused XBox players who got this game but not that one.
2005 - Frogger: Helmet Chaos - Frogger must fight the evil Dr. Wani and his mind-control helmets
in this portable platformer that surprisingly wasn't released for the Game Boy
Advance. Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable owners were treated to the game
instead.
2005 - Frogger Puzzle - Sooner or later, every video game mascot gets a puzzle
game.
2006 - My Frogger Toy Trials - Frogger kind of meets Pokemon in this Nintendo DS release. Here a
boy named Kyle dreams of entering the Toy Pets tournament with his very own
dragon, but ends up getting Frogger instead. Can Frogger win Kyle's heart as
well as the tournament?
2007 - Frogger Launch - Now Frogger must rely on a slingshot instead of his own trusty
legs to get home, and it's up to you to get the angles and speed right to help
Frogger avoid all his enemies.
2008 - Frogger Beats 'n' Bounces - The entire world has found itself hopping and bopping to some
mysterious beat. Our beloved hero and expert hopper is off to find out
why.
2008 - Frogger 2 - This XBox Live digital download is intended to be a direct sequel
to the original arcade game. Apparently Frogger II: Threeedeep! no
longer counts. Be careful not to confuse this with Frogger 2: Swampy's
Revenge also.
2009 - Frogger Returns - This digital download for the Wii, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo DSi
also passes itself off as a sequel to the original Frogger, with a new
3D-esque camera angle and power-ups to spice up the game
play.
2011 - Frogger 3D - In this Nintendo 3DS release, Frogger really does enter the
third dimension.
2012 - Frogger: Hyper Arcade Edition - Perhaps inspired by Pac-Man Championship Edition, this
digital download for the Wii, PlayStation 3 and XBox 360 spins a twist on the
original arcade game, and then piles on the eye candy.
