Donkey Kong Imitations

Donkey Kong was one of the first "platform" games, and therefore has influenced countless titles since its release. However, there are a few offerings that seem a lot more familiar than others.

Crazy Kong - What seems to be a pirated rip-off is in fact a perfectly legal, officially licensed re-branding of arcade Donkey Kong, intended for markets outside of the U.S. and Japan. Despite the clean legalities, the game has all the makings of a bootleg. The hardware is meant for a different game (Crazy Climber in this case), the colors are psychedelic, and the sound effects are rather funky, to say the least.

I Want My Mommy - Teddy wants his Mommy after a bad dream. To get to Mommy, Teddy must climb ladders that he raises by himself, while avoiding the demons that created his bad dream. This is an Atari 2600 exclusive.
